Welcome To English as a Second Language

English as a Second Language Beginner

This class is a combined skills course integrating acquisition of and improving on all four skill areas of English: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students will practice new vocabulary in writing and speaking.

English as a Second Language Intermediate

This course develops students' linguistic understanding by focusing on the language functions required for everyday communication and develops reading fluency, accuracy, and comprehension.

English as a Second Language Advance

Introduces students to advanced integrated practice in reading, speaking and listening for academic English. Special attention is paid to advanced vocabulary and comprehension of original authentic readings and lectures.

I have been a second language teacher for about 10 years, and I am passionate about teaching second language learners.

I teach two different ESL (English Second Language) levels in the evenings. Students in my class can expect to practice their reading and writing skills with a focus on vocabulary acquisition. We also focus on conversational English through life skills lessons. I look forward to meeting students from different parts of the world and help them reach their English language goals.

When you come from a far place, don’t worry. Yucaipa Adult school will be your family. In this school we learned a lot. We have done sports activities and social activities like potlucks and pickleball. We will all reach our goals in learning the English language and we will never forget the virtue of this school.
